2020 has been one for the books. And no group of people has shined more than the skilled and compassionate healthcare professionals that helped millions of people this year. It’s important that healthcare facilities take a moment to thank their staff this holiday season. Here are a few ideas:

Recognize their hard work publicly.

Remember that a “thank you” goes a long way. Recognizing your healthcare team’s hard work, verbally and publicly, is essential. Tell your team members how much you appreciate their efforts this year. Make social media posts highlighting your workers’ commitment. Whatever you do, don’t let the year end without making sure your team members are aware of how much management, other departments, and patients value their contributions.

Give small gifts.

Consider giving small gifts, like gift cards or sweet treats, to your healthcare heroes this holiday season. After all, it’s the season of giving. You can also organize a potluck or a Secret Santa or white elephant gift exchange. It’s a great way to spread some holiday cheer and say “thank you” at the same time. And it’s a lot of fun!

Throw a party.

Throw a holiday party to round out this crazy year. You can host it on-site at your facility or rent out a space away from work. However you do it, holding an event meant specifically to celebrate your facility’s healthcare workers and their incredible work throughout 2020 will really show your team members that you care.

Feed them.

Whether it’s at your holiday party or just during shifts, feeding your healthcare team with delicious treats is always a winning idea. Everyone loves free food! Have a pizza party in the break room, or a small buffet of desserts to select from at each nurse’s station.

Offer increased time off.

What better way to show you care this holiday season than by giving your healthcare workers time off to spend with their families and loved ones? If you can, offer increased time off this holiday season or at the beginning of the New Year.
