November and Thanksgiving season is the perfect time to show appreciation and thanks for your employees. These are the individuals that keep your facility running day in and day out. It’s essential that they know you’re in their corner and appreciate all of their hard work. And recognizing employees increases engagement, employee satisfaction, and your business’s bottom line.

Here are some ways to show your employees that you’re thankful:

Say “thank you.”

That’s right—sometimes, it’s as simple as saying those two words. A “thank you” can go a long way, especially when it comes directly from the boss. You can certainly say “thank you” in person, but saying it creatively is another good idea. Try writing a personalized, hand-written note to each employee letting them know how you’ve valued their contributions this year.

Ask for feedback.

Asking for your employees’ feedback might seem like a strange way to show appreciation for them. But that’s exactly what it is. Asking your employees what they think, and about what would make their jobs easier and what you could be doing better, is one of the best ways to demonstrate that you care about them. Incorporate a system for regular feedback into your workflow if it’s not in place already.

Give your employees time off.

No one will complain about a day off. Sometimes, time away from work is the best way to show your employees that you really care about what they’ve done for the organization. When a big goal is met or a certain objective achieved, let your team rest. Try giving the team members rotating days off, or gift them an extra vacation day.

Recognize them—publicly.

Pleased with an employee’s performance or success? Don’t keep it to yourself. Recognize the employee publicly, whether you’re sending out a company-wide email or giving them a resounding shout-out at the next team meeting. Not only will this make the employee feel appreciated, but it will also encourage other team members to live up to their full potential, too.

Give them a raise.

For your employees, giving them a raise or bonus for a job well done is always appreciated. It might not be the most glamorous option, but it’s one of the most impactful.
